Would You Like to be More Productive? Here’s One Way

By John, 15 October, 2009, No Comment

Now that what will be known as “The Great Hosting Disaster” is over, things should return to normal around here.  Someday I’ll write about the disaster but for now I wanted to point you to what is turning out to be another great series of posts by Matt Perman over at What’s Best Next.  If you aren’t familiar with Matt, he writes “on integrating the big picture with everyday decisions so that we can do things better in life, work, business, and society.”

So what happens when you post a video on YouTube called United Breaks Guitars

By John, 10 July, 2009, No Comment

On Tuesday, I posted an article called United Breaks Guitars or A Quick Lesson in Bad Customer Service. At that time the video had been viewed 131,526 times.  A Google search of United Breaks Guitars resulted in 4,900 pages.  So what’s happened between then and now?

Why You Should Be Using Online Classified Sites

By John, 26 May, 2009, No Comment

Should you be using online classified ads for your business?  According to Pew Research Center, you may be missing out if you don’t

Last Friday Pew announced that <blockquote>the number of online adults who have used online classified ads has more than doubled in the past four years. Almost half (49%) of internet users say they have ever used online classified sites, compared with 22% of online adults who had done so in 2005.

Where Do We Go From Here?

By John, 16 May, 2008, No Comment

Now that I’ve returned from my blogging hiatus, I’m going to be taking JC Support Services, and this journal, in a different direction. One thing that we all know is that the real estate business is in a slump. Let’s face it, the economy is in trouble and who knows how long the slump will last.

What you’ll see in the future will be more focused entries dealing with a variety of subjects. I’m going to try to put out articles that will help you in your work and play times. Speaking of play time, you’ll see a lot more on lifestyle and recreation.

My goal is to do a weekly series on one particular subject. Of course that means that some weeks there won’t be anything that interests you, and other weeks you’ll hopefully be begging for more.

I’ll be kicking off the new format next week with a series on real estate, of course. However, this will be based more for the buyer of real estate, and not the agent. Come on back and check it out and be sure to leave me a comment letting me know your thoughts.

Where I’ve Been and Why I’m Back

By John, 15 May, 2008, No Comment

As you probably noticed, I’ve been gone for a couple months. Business has gone on but my writing came to a complete stop. There’s a good reason for that so I thought I’d share it.

Although it has been a great gig, I’ve basically shut down the real estate virtual assistance side of my business. I still have a couple of clients that I am working with, but I’ve dropped the rest and am no longer soliciting business.

In the mean time, since I last wrote, I’ve moved again, for the 2nd time in a year, but not far from where we were.

I’ve also completed the republication of A History of Wexford County. The republication was a labor of love and I hope that people who have an interest in genealogy will find it useful.

The other thing I’ve been doing is expanding my internet marketing presence, with adsense ads, some affiliate marketing and something I’ve just started using about six weeks ago, Build A Niche Store. Build A Niche Store works with the ebay affiliate program and I’ll be writing more about that in the future.

So where is this blog going? Since many of you, my readers, are real estate agents, I will still be providing information that will help you utilize the internet and tools to grow your business, but I will also be adding more information on internet marketing in the non-real estate world.

Those of you who know me, and have been reading me since the beginning, know that I am all about getting the biggest bang, from the smallest bucks. In other words, if there is a free program that will work just as well, if not better, than a program you have to buy, I’ll tell you about it. That’s not going to change.

I intend to write more consistently, and to point you to articles and products that will improve your results. I hope you’ll stick around for the journey.
