By John, 15 September, 2009, No Comment

Washington (NAR) – The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is calling upon its 1.2 million members to urge Congress to extend the successful homebuyer tax credit into next year.

Since its inception earlier this year, the $8,000 first-time homebuyer tax credit has brought 1.2 million new buyers into the market—350,000 of whom would not have purchased a home without the credit, according to NAR. The credit is due to expire November 30.

United Breaks Guitars or A Quick Lesson in Bad Customer Service

This video, called United Breaks Guitars, is a quick lesson in how NOT to treat your customers. I’ll let Dave Maxwell of the group Sons of Maxwell tell his story.

In the spring of 2008, Sons of Maxwell were traveling to Nebraska for a one-week tour and my Taylor guitar was witnessed being thrown by United Airlines baggage handlers in Chicago. I discovered later that the $3500 guitar was severely damaged.

Should you be using online classified ads for your business?  According to Pew Research Center, you may be missing out if you don’t

Last Friday Pew announced that <blockquote>the number of online adults who have used online classified ads has more than doubled in the past four years. Almost half (49%) of internet users say they have ever used online classified sites, compared with 22% of online adults who had done so in 2005.

A Tired Old Dog

By John, 20 February, 2009, 1 Comment

An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard.

I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.

He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.

An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.

The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour.

This continued off and on for several weeks.

Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: ‘I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.’

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar:

‘He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 – he’s trying to catch up on his sleep.

Can I come with him tomorrow?’

Sometimes when you are busy trying to make money, you forget the reason you are working so hard.  Of course you have bills to pay, we all do.  But you need to get out of the hectic life and long hours sometimes just to recharge.
Take a break, take a nap, take a walk, spend some quiet time with those you love.
You’ll come back refreshed and ready to go.
